Welcome to the Institute of Flight Systems Engineering. Our work focuses on the interaction between aircraft configuration, pilots and modern flight system technology. From flight dynamics to unmanned aerial vehicles, from simulation to real flight tests - we analyse, test and develop innovations that will shape the flying of the future.
With growing automation, the role of pilots is undergoing a fundamental change: in Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) missions, they are becoming mission managers who lead manned and unmanned systems in concert. This places entirely new demands on cockpit interfaces – and that's exactly where you come in.
Your role: As an intern, you will work on a new interaction concept for fighter jet pilots in the MUM-T context. You will turn initial drafts into a comprehensive design system that flexibly adapts to a wide variety of mission conditions.
The internship can optionally be combined with a thesis (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
Your Tasks
- Evaluating and consolidating existing GUI design drafts for 2D and Mixed Reality Interfaces
- developing a consistent, reusable GUI design system
- Applying the design system to a novel interaction concept for MUM-T missions
- Supporting the implementation of the GUI in front-end development, including back-end integration
- Contributing to the planning and execution of user tests for usability evaluation
Your profile
- Ongoing studies in User-Experience Design, Human-Factors Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable program
- Initial experience in UI prototyping (Figma, Sketch or comparable)
- Basic knowledge of front-end development
- A structured and creative approach to work
- An interest in aviation and user-centered design
